Sister State Judgments & Domestication

A foreign judgment is any judgment, decree, or order from any U.S. court outside of the state of Georgia. Sister state judgments (called foreign judgments) are entitled to full faith and credit within the state of Georgia. The judgments have the same effect and are subject to the same procedures as a judgment rendered in the state of Georgia once properly filed.

If you need to transfer an existing judgment to the Georgia legal system for collection, Rosser Law, P.C., can help you. If your judgment was issued by a court outside of Georgia, we can “domesticate” your judgment so that it becomes enforceable in Georgia.
